Ta-Ta for Now

This week, our farewell tour comes to a bittersweet end, and we look forward to the trip ahead.

This summer has been somewhat of a kaleidoscope of reunions, goodbyes, experiences and emotions, resulting in an incredible sense of peace as we embark on a new adventure.

Our tour started when we left Saint Augustine, a community that we grew to love in our three short years there. We made great friends, bolstered relationships, and came into our own as a married couple while living in Saint Augustine. Seemingly just as we hit our stride, it was time to move on.

The first stop on our trip was in Hot ‘Lanta, where we attended the Candler Park Music and Food Festival, highlighted (for us at least) by Railroad Earth. The festival was really just means to an end of good times with great friends. Thanks to Joel, Sarah, Woody, Jamie and Greg for an awesome weekend.

Our second reunion trip came at the end of the summer when we were able to pull off a (partial) gathering of the Campbell Avenue crew, Kirby’s neighborhood friends growing up. The mountains of western North Carolina provided a backdrop for a few unforgettable days of fun and adventure with some dear old friends. Thanks to the Price Family for your hospitality.

We have had the great privilege of returning to our roots this summer, temporarily moving back to our hometown of Lake Wales. Our family and friends here have always been very supportive, and this summer we have felt the love. We have been honored with formal recognition, blessed by private goodbyes, and humbled to visit with good friends during a send-off party in the early bands of Hurricane Irma. It is hard to say goodbye to such an amazing community, but we know we will back again soon. A big thank you to our families for all that you have done to make this summer one to remember.

On Sunday, we fly to Philadelphia, our final stop before a direct flight to Senegal. More on that timeline can be found in our post, To Peace or Not to Peace.

We will continue to post updates, pictures and stories on this site. Be sure to check back in from time to time, or subscribe to get an email when we make a post.
